PANTOMIME TIME!
For the past 35 or so years, I have lit pantos all over the UK and in South Africa. I have lit many stars at their peak, their rise and on the decline too!
THE BEGINNINGS
Paul Elliot of producing fame gave me my first Panto job as LD and from then on he ran me ragged with more pantos, sometimes 4 or 5 a season, plus loads of other shows he put out, tours, cruises, concerts etc. I lit Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story, west end, broadway and UK and American tours too. Thanks Paul.
Then everything merged to QDOS Entertainments and I have been lighting Pantos for Nick Thomas ever since. Thanks Nick.
SOUTH AFRICA
17 years ago, I was approached by QDOS to go to the Joburg Civic, as it was then, to light a panto for them. I went out there with Sean Cornell & Chris Wood, both PM’s for Qdos and had a splendid time. What I didn’t know was that I would be lighting the Joburg annual pantos from then on to present day!
I met with the wonderful Bernard Jay, producer and the fabulous Janice Honeyman, writer & director and hit it off first time with them. They have been so kind and generous and made me part of their panto family.
PANTOS OVER THE YEARS
Here are a few pantos, lit by yours truly over the years, which I have managed to find posters for. In no particular order & no dates too: (I suppose if I have lit on average 3 pantos a year, sometimes 4 or 5, then over 35 years I will have lit around 105 pantos… oh yes I have!)
